Golfers tee off to help save lives at sea
At the annual fundraising Golf Day, 40 teams of local golfers have raised an incredible £13,000 for Tynemouth RNLI.
The event, sponsored by local funeral directors EÊTurnbull & Son, and generously hosted by Whitley Bay Golf Club, was organised by dedicated golfers and RNLI supporters Dave & Julie Stafford, Neil Rodgerson and Steve Clements.
Event organiser, Julie Stafford, commented: ÒThis is the sixth year weÕve run the golf day and weÕve raised over £40,000 for the RNLI so far. WeÕd like to thank our sponsor and the teams for their support in helping Tynemouth RNLI and the volunteer crew save lives at sea. Everyone had a great day, boosted by the knowledge they were supporting a worthwhile cause. We hope to see everyone again next year.Ó
Tynemouth RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, David Stenhouse, said: ÒWeÕre very appreciative of the support given to us by Julie and her colleagues, and of course the golfers. I got a hole-in-one on the day so it was a double success for me!
The money raised will go towards the upkeep of the two Tynemouth lifeboats, which means we can continue to save lives at sea.Ó
